Submissions for MILK 2 are closed and we're in the process of poem selection. We've received many strong submissions but only have so much space, so the selection process can be difficult and time consuming. If all goes well, it should be available in early to mid October and will be available for pre-order shortly. The individual issue price will be a little bit higher, but shipping will be included in the price. We very much want to continue to publish MILK but can't afford to do it at a loss. There's no profit motive involved, but we took a bit of a hit on postage for the first issue.

Submissions for issue 3 are now being accepted until November 31. With a little luck and a lot of good submissions, MILK 3 will be available sometime in January, 2011.

Here's a small preview of the cover of MILK 2.

It has come to our attention that there is a blog at milkmag.org which has been around since 1999. While the site mentions being online and in print, we are unable to verify that a print edition of this blog has ever been issued. At any rate, the owner of that blog is quite certain that we have stolen the name MILK from him and are "capitalizing" on his great popularity and "success." Before he contacted us, we had never heard of his blog. His first email to us started out by informing us about how "unoriginal" the title was and that he wanted us to change the name. He's also let us know that, in his humble opinion, we have "cheapened the art." He's gone on at length about "art" being original and blah blah blah. We at MILK do not agree that publishing a blog online using other peoples writing and artwork qualifies as "art," but this is not our issue with him.

Larry, I hate to burst your bubble, but we arrived at the title independently, without ever having heard of your blog, and we have no intention of changing the name. If you actually had a print edition and didn't initially approach us with such a shitty attitude, we would accomodate you, apologise and even feel badly that we had not researched more deeply into the title. However, as a peace offering, we will state here and now that MILK Poetry Magazine is not in any way affiliated with milkmag.org and will include a plug to that effect in future issues of the printed magazine. We hope that you'll put something similar on your blog, since we have no desire to be associated or confused with your, erm, art.
